We really do need more icons, so I am suggesting Cedric, wonderful character in "Love in a Cold Climate", almost makes up for it not being as good as the first book, as one. Since he is brilliant and probably rather good at tea parties. And makes people dye hair blue. And is called One, (italics important).

Hello, M here.Have been convinced by initial-hating one (and apparently this extends to "PBL") to become a pseudo-bohemian loser. Idid object that I did not know who the Genesis Ark WERE and therefore could hardly have views on them. Also that according to initialess-one I am a philistine. But apparently I do fulfill some critera, I get a badge and am honoured to become resident philistine.

(Philistine perfectly acceptable outburst if someone tells you they did not know of existince of Welles, plus I was tired and stressed therefore what I say cannot count.)

That was the one we can not name. I did not say I did not know Welles existed, but asked what he did.

He did and existed rather a lot in thirties and forties, and not having heard of his War of the World's is nearly a treasonable offence.

Have heard of it.Just did not know about it, as Ihave not seen it.

Not film or play, RADIO ADAPTATION. Example of power of mass media.

Have just been told savagely there are two films, neither of which feature OW.

Also very good concept album (with Richard Burton, not Orson Welles)

Apologies for extreme dullness of this by the way. I have nothing else to do but wash up the tea things (yes, this is me being pretentious). And initialless one has nothing to do but proofread middle english.
But there is a fil

This is just wildly amusing.

No Nancy Mitford characters, not now, not ever, or at least not until I can look at The Pursuit of Love without hearing echoes of Mr. T's ghastly snobbery.

And what have we said about libelling innocent ancient Hebraic tribes, hmm?

You haven't read Love in A Cold Climate, nor do you appear to comprehend The Pursuit of Love. And Mr T. is nice and approaching being a Doctor of Space and Time (which seems to be Dr Who)

M asks why you don't like The Pursuit of Love?

I only libel Hebraic tribes when tired.

He is not nice. He says that people should get over rape and spends entire lessons lecturing us about which are the 'proper' words to use (U- and non-U lesson). Why a Doctor of Space and Time?

So that might be part of the reason I couldn't bear The Pursuit of Love. But also, I feel thwarted when the only sympathetic character is a Tory mP.

How can you possibly find Tony Kroesig a sympathetic character. He is dreadful and the closest you get to the mad fascists (not only Oswald Mosely, but the fact that Unity Mitford went off and joined Hitler's entourage). If you dislike Linda that is no reason to like Tony.
Davey is lovely. Uncle Matthew is lovely. How can any one who reviews Shakespeare as "silly old fool of a nurse too, I bet she was an RC, dismal old bitch" not be sympathetic.
And one should approve of Aunt Emily and Aunt Sadie is sweet and the hug gaggle of Alconleigh children are great.

Oh and initialless one says:
in what particular context rape quote? Did you not discuss Ph.D. with him (space and time in Middle English)? And do you not see that people who share my favourite middle english poem have to actually prove they're evil before I dislike them.

Also, U- and Non- supposed to be idiotic, by Mitford. Hence notepaper episode being comic, and the fact that it is Mitford trying to rebel (she approves of Fanny being educated in middle class girls' day school).

Wait! Wait! I am getting confused. Which is the one who is allergic to everything? That's the sweet one.

He takes U- and Non-U terribly seriously. Rape quote in the context of 'All right Maya Angelou was raped as a child but she should have got over it.'

Having pretensions to being Doctor Who when you are insufficiently cool counts as proof as evil.

Oh, and he never writes anything helpful on essays.

Tis Davey who is allergic to everything and very obsessed with his health. Very sweet.
Does he insist you are U/non-U vocab?
Also is that not disliking Maya Angelou's work? (early stuff preoccupied with rape)
He writes jolly hepful things on essay plans.

People get told off for using non-u to talk in his lessons. Essay plans are not my friend.

There is no getting through to you on this you know, you are entirely illogical when it comes to Gawain fans. Set-text madness strikes again.
