Will review the film of Maurice properly later: in brief not enough Classics, why o why cast HG as Clive?, and Merchant Ivory were terribly confused over Platonic relationships. (ie. the wonderful, terribly written "You wrote that you were." "I wasn't"..."You wrote that you liked her" "I didn't" scene was heavily cut and climaxed in a very brief and embarrassed looking hug, and involved strange, semi physically impossible moments of hair stroking")
How on earth do you manage to wreck "Maurice", of all books? I doubted it could get worse, but it did.

Oh dear. Physically impossible hair stroking? This does not bode well. Alas book adaptions are symbolic of the TIMES and the lack of APPRECIATION for terribly written but wonderfl scenes. We hav emoved on, I fear, and there is no place for Forster in this BRAVE NEW WORLD. o tempora o mores &c.

errm well. have extremely little to say. *goes off to angst, for various reasons, a brave new world with little place for Forster not being EXTREMELY high on list*

'tis the stereotype business, PBL. I'm sorry to say.
And anyway, no. Just... *worries about PBL's sanity* No.

I am extremely sane, at least by the standards which are being applied to me at present. Am not actually a creationist.

Happy birthday! You will get your present on monday! Hope you had a good day. Also JE and I saw the Maurice - the hair stroking was, actually, pretty impressive and v. impossible. HG not as bad as I thought he would be, actually. Sorry to say. Why I am commenting, I know not, I should be working... hmph... Maybe I should go work...
